Add, subtract, multiply and divide two fractions and get the answer fully simplified, plus its mixed-number and decimal forms. It accepts fractions, mixed numbers, whole numbers and even decimals as input. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How to use
- Type the first fraction (for example 3/4 or 1 1/2).
- Choose an operation: add, subtract, multiply or divide.
- Type the second fraction and read the simplified result.
How it works
To add or subtract, the fractions are put over a common denominator; to multiply, the numerators and denominators are multiplied; to divide, the second fraction is flipped and multiplied. The result is then reduced to lowest terms by dividing both parts by their greatest common divisor. For example, 1/2 + 1/3 becomes 3/6 + 2/6 = 5/6.
Features
All four operations
Add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions in one place.
Auto-simplify
Results are always reduced to lowest terms automatically.
Mixed numbers
See the answer as a mixed number when it is greater than one.
Decimal form
Also shows the decimal value, handy for quick comparisons.
Flexible input
Accepts fractions, mixed numbers, whole numbers and decimals.
When to use it
Math homework
Check fraction answers and see them reduced to lowest terms.
Recipes
Combine or scale fractional measurements like 1/2 cup plus 1/3 cup.
DIY & measuring
Add up fractional inch measurements when cutting or building.
Ratios & probability
Work with fractional ratios and probabilities and keep them exact.
Notes
- Mixed numbers use a space, like 1 1/2.
- Dividing by zero is not allowed and shows an error.
- Results are always shown in lowest terms.
- All calculation runs on your device; nothing is uploaded.
FAQ
- How do I enter a mixed number?
- Write the whole part, a space, then the fraction — for example 1 1/2 for one and a half.
- Does it simplify the answer?
- Yes. Every result is automatically reduced to lowest terms using the greatest common divisor.
- Can I enter decimals?
- Yes. A decimal like 0.75 is converted to a fraction (3/4) before the calculation.
- What happens if I divide by zero?
- Division by zero is undefined, so the calculator shows an error instead of a result.
- Is my data sent to a server?
- No. All calculation happens locally in your browser.
