Compare two versions of any text and see exactly what changed. Paste an original and a revised version to get a clear, line-by-line view with additions in green and removals in red, plus a count of the changes. Perfect for proofreading, reviewing edits or checking contract revisions. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
How to use
- Paste the original text on the left.
- Paste the changed text on the right.
- Review the highlighted additions and removals, and the change counts.
How the diff works
The checker compares the two texts line by line and finds the longest sequence of lines they share. Lines only in the original are marked as removed, lines only in the new version are marked as added, and matching lines are kept unchanged. This gives a clean view of exactly what was edited.
Features
Line-by-line highlights
Additions and removals are color-coded so changes jump out at a glance.
Change counts
See how many lines were added and removed in total.
Keeps unchanged lines
Shared lines stay in place for context, so you can read the result in order.
Handles large texts
Big inputs are processed without freezing your browser.
Private by design
Both texts are compared locally. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Common use cases
Proofreading & editing
Spot every change between two drafts of an article or email.
Contracts & policies
Check exactly what changed in a revised agreement or terms.
Code & config
Compare two snippets or config files to see the edits.
Translations & versions
Track differences between versions of a document or translation.
Notes & tips
- The comparison works on whole lines, so split your text with line breaks where it matters.
- Very large differences are simplified so the tool stays fast.
- Identical texts show no additions or removals.
- Everything runs on your device — nothing is sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
- What can I compare?
- Any two pieces of text: drafts, contracts, code, config, translations — anything you can paste.
- What do the colors mean?
- Green lines were added in the changed version, red lines were removed from the original, and grey lines are unchanged.
- Can it handle large texts?
- Yes. Very large inputs are simplified where needed so the comparison stays fast and won't freeze your browser.
- Does it compare word by word?
- The diff works line by line, which is clear and reliable for most documents. Add line breaks to compare smaller chunks.
- Is my text uploaded?
- No. Both texts are compared entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server and there is no sign-up.
