Write or paste a post and this counter shows the character count live, along with how much room is left for each social platform — X, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, LinkedIn, and more. Counts use Unicode code points so emoji are counted fairly. Everything runs in your browser.
How to use
- Type or paste your post into the box.
- Watch the character count and per-platform room update live.
- Trim until it fits the platform you're posting to.
How it works
The counter measures your text by Unicode code points, so most emoji and accented letters count as one character rather than several. It also reports words, lines, and UTF-8 byte size. For each platform it subtracts your character count from that platform's published limit and shows how much room is left, or how far over you are. Limits are approximate and can change.

FAQ
- How are emoji counted?
- By Unicode code point, so most emoji and accented letters count as a single character.
- Are the platform limits exact?
- They're the published limits and are approximate. Platforms change them and may count links or media specially.
- Does it count words too?
- Yes. It also shows words, lines, and the UTF-8 byte size of your text.
- What does 'over by' mean?
- It shows how many characters you need to remove to fit that platform's limit.
- Is my text uploaded?
- No. Everything is counted in your browser and nothing leaves your device.
