A precise online metronome that keeps a steady beat at any tempo. Set the BPM, choose a time signature with an accented downbeat, and start — or tap along to find a tempo. It uses Web Audio for accurate timing and runs entirely in your browser.
How to use
- Set the tempo in BPM with the slider or the plus and minus buttons.
- Choose a time signature; the first beat is accented.
- Press Start, or tap the tempo button in time to set the BPM.
How it works
The metronome plays one click per beat, with the interval set by the tempo: at 120 BPM that is one click every half second. To stay accurate, clicks are scheduled slightly ahead of time using the Web Audio clock rather than relying on regular timers, which keeps the beat steady even when the page is busy.

FAQ
- What does BPM mean?
- BPM stands for beats per minute — how many clicks the metronome plays each minute. Higher BPM means a faster tempo.
- How does tap tempo work?
- Tap the tap tempo button a few times in rhythm and the metronome averages your taps to set the BPM.
- Is the timing accurate?
- Yes. Clicks are scheduled ahead of time with the Web Audio clock, so the beat stays steady and precise.
- What if I hear no sound?
- Make sure your device is not muted and press Start (or tap once) to let the browser begin audio playback.
- Is anything sent to a server?
- No. The metronome runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
